Meet the Filmmaker
But this project is deeply personal.
After decades of being told her debilitating period pain was “normal,” Jamie was finally diagnosed with stage IV endometriosis. Faced with a lifetime of medication and chronic pain, she chose a different path — one of holistic healing, cultural rediscovery, and fierce curiosity about what women were never taught about their own bodies.
That journey led her across the globe, interviewing trailblazers in women’s health, menstrual equity, and feminine wisdom. The result is The Cycle Secrets: Reclaiming the Power of your Period — a documentary lifting the veil on ancient practices, modern science, and the power of understanding our cycles.
Jamie is also a Certified Hormone Health Coach, a path that deepened her empathy for women navigating similar challenges and informed the compassionate, empowering lens of this film.
Through this work, Jamie hopes to help women everywhere reclaim their health, their stories, and the wisdom within.
Q&A with Jamie
Why did you make this film?
Because for too long, women have been told their pain is “normal.” I spent years suffering in silence before being diagnosed with stage IV endometriosis. I knew there had to be more to the story — and I wanted to find it, for myself and for every woman who’s been dismissed or overlooked.
What surprised you most while making it?
How much ancient wisdom exists around the menstrual cycle — and how little of it we’ve been taught. From spiritual practices to productivity hacks, it’s mind-blowing how cycles were once honored and how healing they can be when understood.
What do you hope people take away from The Cycle Secrets?
One thing people might not know about you?
I’m obsessed with the film Fight Club, have been to all 7 continents, and will happily plan a last-minute road trip for good tacos or a girls’ weekend.
